Moreton in Marsh Real Ale Trail

North Cotswold Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale

On the 7^th April the Moreton Meander was resurrected in a rebranded pub crawl around the high street pubs in Moreton. Last held on 27^th March 2008 this one started once again in our GBG pub the Inn on the Marsh with Wayne and Kim hosting and providing an excellent buffet at 7pm. Better beer range than 2008. Ten people and two dogs turned up during the evening including Colin a potential new member from Bourton and Bakers Arms Seasonal POTY Landlord Dave Hirst. Organised by Nick Court and James Long supporting Martin Jones in this trip down memory lane they used the Facebook page to drum up support with a more sophisticated title than the previous Moreton Meander and a poster advertising the event.

Our records show the last town crawl was the Stow Stagger on 26^th Feb 2009. We also ran a Winchcombe Wobble and a Chipping Campden Crawl in those days.

However some things do not change and this night the Bell and Redesdale were again revisited with the addition of the White Hart and the Black Bear. Time was saved in the demise of the Wellington since 2008 so our route was shorter but we ran out of time and missed out the Swan Inn. Nick Court sported a new bespoke black tee shirt with our pub list printed on the back in case we got lost. James Long’s two Japanese dogs endured the trail and drew the usual attention. 200^th member Lorraine and daughter caught up with us at the Bear and helped to finish the buffet back at Wayne’s for our group photograph. Impressive atmosphere in all the pubs visited, good range of quality beer and residents of Moreton have a great choice available.
